Hello my name is Emily I’m 17 years old, turning 18 in Nov. I am the new Chair of CYC, and as well as being Chair, I also sit on the children and young people scrutiny committee; both things I’m extremely proud of and appreciate everyone for the support they have shown me throughout CYC in the last 6-7 years. A lot of you reading this might be thinking what my goals, or what i want to achieve in CYC, are. I want to be able to let children have their own voices, because it’s about our generation, and the ones below us too. We are to shape Cardiff to be a better place, and yes, I may be chair, but I can’t do it by myself, therefore I need everyone else. Your voices will be heard and things will change! Remember do what makes you happy not what others think. Thank you!

Hello! My name is Ashika and I am the new Vice Chair of Cardiff Youth Council. Many of you may not know who I am, I attend Cathedral School in Llandaff as a Sixth Form Student studying Maths, History and Politics A levels. By using the expertise and skills I have built up the last few years in public speaking, team work and leadership I aim to to bring a caring, encouraging and direct approach to my role in CYC by approaching issues head on and listening to as much of your feedback , concerns and suggestions as possible in order to foster a council that we are all proud of and feel that our voices are making a difference for young people. Whether you are a completely new or long standing member, don’t feel shy to approach me and have a chat in general meetings!
