Children and Young People’s Advisory Board

An advisory board of children and young people has
been set up as part of the Child Rights Partners
Programme.
The board (called CYPAB for short) held its first meeting
during May half term and will enable members to have their
voices heard and assist adults to develop the
important piece of work alongside Unicef.
The three year programme will aim to embed
children’s rights across many aspects of the city’s
work.
CYPAB Chair David Abadir (17) said ‘ It was a hard
first meeting as we had to learn a lot about the
programme but we then moved on to developing our
thinking of what makes a Child Friendly City which was
really good’.
The group are now planning on hosting 70 C&YP from
across the city at a Grand Council event at City Hall on
July 11th.
‘This event will aim to provide an opportunity for a
wider group to work through key questions and steer
the direction of the Child Rights Partner Action Plan’
said David.
