During the summer holidays some primary schools offer activities for children to get involved in. The programme was created to provide low-income families with activities during the summer for their children.
The programme counteracts the social isolation and lack of intellectual stimulation that some children experience during the summer holidays which is normally maintained during the rest of the school year.
The schools that are signed up to deliver the programme were offered a children’s rights based workshop session to provide social learning experiences.
These were available around democracy (local or national), Childrens rights (the UNCRC), participation or as a bespoke session.
In these schools, the appetite for learning about children rights was amplified thanks to the new ‘rights respecting schools’ campaign driven by the child friendly cities strategy.
The active involvement team visited 11 schools over the summer holidays, expanding the knowledge of over 300 pupils.
Rhaglen Addysg y Gwyliau Ysgol
Yn ystod y gwyliau haf mae rhai ysgolion cynradd yn cynnig gweithgareddau i blant gymryd rhan ynddynt. Cafodd y rhaglen ei chreu i gynnig gweithgareddau yn ystod yr haf i blant teuluoedd incwm isel.
Mae’r rhaglen yn ceisio mynd i’r afael ag unigedd cymdeithasol a diffyg cymhelliant deallus y mae rhai plant yn ei brofi yn ystod gwyliau ysgol sydd arfer yn cael ei gynnal yn ystod gweddill y flwyddyn ysgol.
Cynigiwyd sesiwn gweithdy seiliedig ar hawliau plant i’r ysgolion a gofrestrodd i ddarparu’r rhaglen, er mwyn cynnig profiadau dysgu cymdeithasol.
Roedd y rhain yn ymwneud â democratiaeth (lleol neu genedlaethol), hawliau plant (yr UNCRC), sesiwn gyfranogi neu bwrpasol.
Yn yr ysgolion hyn, cafodd y blas i ddysgu am hawliau plant ei gryfhau diolch i’r ymgyrch ‘ysgolion sy’n parchu hawliau’ a ysgogwyd gan y strategaeth dinasoedd sy’n dda i blant.
